C-WASH has prioritised handwashing with soap under running water as the key hygiene behaviour change intervention which is promoted in schools and at the household level. While hygiene coverage particularly in rural settlements has been low, progress in progress has also been slow. C-WASH promotes tippy tap construction and other appropriate designs in schools and communities/households as the main infrastructure for handwashing especially in schools or households which do not have piped water connections or running water. School children and women are especially being targeted in the trainings, sensitisations and campaigns for handwashing with soap at critical times (i.e. before eating, after visiting the toilet, after cleaning a child who defecated, and before cooking).
